Analysis
Covering around a quarter of total energy consumption with hydrogen by 2050
Researchers at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) have examined the role of electrification and hydrogen in modeled scenarios for the future transformation of the EU’s energy supply. Their study shows: A share of 42 to 60 percent of total energy consumption from electricity and 9 to 26 percent from hydrogen-based energy is required by 2050.
