Thomas Engelmann

Thomas Engelmann heads the Energy Transition team at KGAL Investment Management GmbH & Co. KG. He has more than 27 years of investment experience and focuses on energy transition projects and companies, such as green hydrogen and its derivatives. In parallel, Thomas serves as CEO of the PtX Development Fund of the KfW banking group.

Previously, he was Global Head of Transaction and Investment Management, Infrastructure Equity, at Allianz Global Investors GmbH. From 2008 to 2013, he already worked at KGAL as a Senior Director in the Renewable Energy and Infrastructure division, helping to build the firm’s renewable energy portfolio.

Thomas brings deep industry experience from various global senior management roles at Siemens AG and Siemens Financial Services (SFS), including positions in Corporate M&A, Commercial Head of the Industrial Power Plants unit, and Senior Investment Director. This background underpins his strong expertise in technology-driven, sustainable impact investments.

He holds a Master of Business Administration and completed the Siemens Technical Graduate Program. Thomas is also a CFA charterholder and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).
